The Sierra Club of Tennessee sampled surface water at 20 locations around Kingsport and Johnson City last summer and fall, including water that feeds two municipal water supply systems. Among the environmental group’s findings: exceptionally high levels of PFAs in water drawn by the First Utility District of Hawkins County, which supplies drinking water to the eastern half of the county.
